The Wilderness Weddings Venue – Naomi & Laurence
“Helen is just incredible. She’s was absolutely everywhere all at once on our wedding day, no wonder she’s so slim! Our photos are just beautiful. She captured the day perfectly in the exact way we requested. So many funny moments captured and made us look like film stars. Helen is so talented and an absolutely lovely lady through and through. We would book her again for any important event for sure. Thank you so much Helen. Xx.”
It seems like a long time since I photographed Naomi and Laurence wedding back in August last year. It was my first visit to The Wilderness Wedding venue and I can see the attraction for couples wanting a woodland setting. It’s a fabulous spot and has lots of different areas to take in the view or have a walk and explore.
Before their wedding day, even though having only chatted with Naomi and Laurence via zoom, it was clear we were all on the same page regarding the photography. They clearly valued and appreciated photography and it was important to them that it reflected the feel of the day. This is exactly my goal at every wedding and it’s this approach that keeps me motivated and enjoying my work.
Naomi, her bridesmaids and flower girl were all getting ready in Canterbury which was my first destination. I love this part of the day as generally everything’s going on and there’s an air of excited chaos. Hair, makeup, last minute phone calls as someone’s left something crucial back at home, it’s all going on!. However in order to photograph elements of the day that Naomi wouldn’t see, I made my way to the venue before the bridal party got picked up.
Laurence was looking very calm and guests had arrived in plenty of time and were already seated for the couples arrival. In true British weather style though, the heavens opened just before the start of the ceremony. But rather than make a dash from the cars to the ceremony through the pouring rain and puddles, Naomi decided to make Laurence wait a few more minutes before getting out of the VW Beetle.
They married in The Boat House & Chapel Tent overlooking the lake and fields beyond, and it really is a gorgeous outlook. Then after the ceremony, everyone made the 5 minute walk to the Tipis in the woodland bathed in glorious sunshine! Together with their friends and family, Naomi and Laurence were able to enjoy the drinks reception and listen to the speeches outside among the trees and dappled sunlight.
While the evening drew in, the band set up and the tables were cleared. Time for the first dance and get the party started!
It was a beautiful wedding to photograph and hopefully I’ll be back at this The Wilderness Wedding Venue again in the not too distant future.
