Chilham Village Hall is a Kent wedding venue I am very familiar with and one I always enjoy working at. With Paul originally from Yorkshire and Laura from Kent, the North and South of England were well represented in terms of people as well as ale!
This autumn wedding was blessed with beautiful sunshine which always puts a smile on peoples faces, the broadest of which is awarded to Paul. Chilham Village hall has a charm about it and lends itself to those couples wishing to put their own mark on their wedding in terms of decor which Laura and Paul certainly did.
Paul and Laura are based in London so we first met at their pre wedding photoshoot in Cranbrook at the little museum that Lauras dad works at. I knew immediately that being their wedding photographer was going to be a lot of fun as they were such a relaxed and happy couple. Their wedding proved to be exactly that with plenty going on throughout the day and evening and a few surprises thrown in.
This was very much a wedding where the guests became involved and it wasn’t long before they were all singing the Beatles hit “All you need is love” at the end of the ceremony, even the registrars joined in. The wedding breakfast also involved guest participation in the form of carving the meat that was brought to the tables. This tends to get laughs at those doing the carving when slices of meat are served up in all sorts of thicknesses!
As evening guests arrived the tables were cleared in preparation for the dancing, this didn’t disappoint! With great appreciation from the crowd Laura and Paul took to the stage and raised the roof, this party was not going to have any kind of lull! Then as a surprise for the wedding guests a dance performance was put on involving female dancers brandishing swords, quite a spectacle to behold! Unfortunately I don’t know their name so please feel free to email me if you have this information and I can credit them as they so deserve it!
The organisation of a ceilidh meant almost everyone was on the dance floor and throwing themselves into the spirit of the evening giving me plenty to photograph before leaving one of the most energetic weddings I photographed in 2016!
Laura & Pauls Testimonial copied from Google Reviews:-
“Thank you Helen! We love our photos from our wedding and cannot recommend you enough. You made everything really easy for us from day one, answering our questions, making our photos really personal and natural, listening to us and bringing our ideas to life, and giving us loads of memories we will treasure. And you melted into our day like magic! Totally professional but really friendly and somehow always there to capture all the best moments (and make us look lovely!) without us even noticing. Being able to capture the energy and fun of our fast-spinning ceilidh and sword dancing in the evening too is testament to her skills and has given us some of our favourite shots from the day. It was such a special day and thank you for helping to make it that way”. Laura and Paul
