Never having visited Danson House, Lucie and John’s wedding happened to be the first of two I was photographing there that week. It’s a lovely looking building with a variety of rooms depending on the size of your wedding and as well as some beautiful gardens opposite across the road.
This was a wedding with a bride originally from the Czech Republic and a groom originally from South Africa, who met in the UK. Just shows how there’s someone for everyone somewhere, you just need to be in the right place at the right time.
With just family and a few close friends attending, the ceremony took place in one of the smaller rooms on the top floor which had some great views across the park. Arriving in separate cars so as not to see each other before the ceremony, John and Lucie both looked happy and relaxed. Walked into the room by her father there were plenty of smiles, the broadest of which was from John.
I’ve known John for a while now from the gym where he works and although I haven’t met Lucie as often, she has a brilliant sense of humour. Her comment after the ceremony when I asked John why he was looking so serious was, “he’s just realised what he’s done”.
The weather was still looking good as everyone made their way out of the building so after taking a few photos in front of Danson House we made our way over to the gardens. Lady luck struck again with a little light rain as we were leaving (apparently it’s lucky if it rains on your wedding day, even more so in my opinion if you’ve just finished the photos outside!).
After this it was off to The Mulberry Tree to enjoy a 3 course lunch and a slice of wedding cake that I just managed to squeeze in!. Thank you John and Lucie for hiring me to photograph your wedding and also for inviting us to your wedding day celebrations!
