Bilsington Priory wedding Photography – Poppy & Pablo
It’s been a little while since I’d photographed a wedding at Bilsington Priory and it was nice to be back. The light coming through the window of the old Priory while Poppy and Pablo took their vows and exchanged rings was perfect! If I could give one piece of advice to couples when choosing their venues is consider the light during their ceremony. As photographers we have to manage all situations, but if you want the best photos of yourself, think about the direction and quality of light you’ll be positioned in.
There was a large Spanish contingent at this wedding as Pablo is Spanish and both he and Poppy now live in Spain. However Poppy’s parents are local and the recommendation came from a mutually known friend which is always nice to have. Plenty of family and friends had made the trip to celebrate this wedding and I was booked for 4 hours. Because it was all about these people getting together with them, Poppy and Pablo wanted coverage just from her arrival at the venue to when they sat down to eat.
They wanted their photos to be all about the moments with just a few group photos. Kind of how I generally work anyway so nothing out of the ordinary. It’s nice also when they just call on me to take a photo with a crowd they’re currently talking to, rather than corale groups together and lose the spontaneity. This venue has plenty of outdoor space and with the good weather everyone was outside which makes moving around getting lots of photos of different groups and people easy.
I should mention the flowers which were put together by Poppy’s mum and they looked really stunning, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Grooms buttonhole bigger! Although I don’t know an awful lot about Poppy and Pablo, their wedding struck me as being about them being together, enjoying some good food and great wine with the people they love. Just as it should be really.
