Come November, although it’s getting colder and the days shorter, it’s a beautiful time of year for pre wedding photography on the farm. Rachel and Ryan love the autumn colours and wanted somewhere without too many people about for their photoshoot, so the farm was perfect.
I’m photographing their wedding in September next year at The Gardens Yalding, so although still some time off, it’s great practice for the day.
A ‘pre wedding’ or ‘engagement shoot’ is a brilliant way to get to know the people who’s wedding you will be at for 8 hours ( sometimes more!). You can learn a little about each other and chat about the wedding day. Most importantly they realise that having their photo taken can be fun and nothing to worry about.
Rachel & Ryan were great to photograph, like most people were a little self conscious to start with but that soon vanished as they relaxed into the session. For me, pre wedding photography is about capturing the chemistry between couples. It’s important to place them in nice light and pose them but people remember how they felt at the time so you want connection between them.
I keep the photoshoot as relaxed as possible as I want my couples to enjoy the experience. It’s important they leave knowing that on their wedding day it really isn’t bad being in front of the lens. The results also give them confidence in me and that they actually look good in a photo. So many people say they’re not photogenic but I can prove that’s not the case.
