This was the second time I had photographed a wedding at Artists Beach House in Whitstable and what a great little venue this is. Emma and Andy wanted a really laid back wedding at a place where they and their guests could relax and just enjoy a day without any of the formalities that another venue might lend itself to.
Being set right on the beach, with a veranda on which to hold the ceremony overlooking the sea and gardens to sit and enjoy the view all that was needed was to have good weather. Emma and her bridesmaids had got ready at the venue and then while the guests were seated outside she was walked by her father down through the gardens at the back of the house to the veranda for the ceremony. There were some tears of emotion among the guests but as for Emma and Andy they were just all smiles.
Although it wasn’t the warmest summer day it was still nice enough to have afternoon tea in the garden and then a walk down to the sea to enjoy a paddle and fly some kites. Emma had set her heart on doing this and it went down brilliantly with everyone, allowing adults to become children again for a short time and just have some fun. Once peoples feet were to cold to carry on and kite strings were tangled beyond repair it was time to go back to the house to enjoy a little music and speeches.
It was shame the sky was so overcast as the sun went down but it didn’t take away from the feel of a wonderful day spent by the great British seaside.
