If you’re going to get married on the hottest day of the year, having your wedding at The Beacon House, Whitstable, Kent is the ideal location. Although I would have been more comfortable in a swim suit and dipping in and out of the sea, I had more pressing issues to attend to.
It was my first visit to The Beacon House and on a day like it was it was absolutely perfect. It’s a house situated right on the seafront which has a beautiful veranda where the ceremony takes place overlooking the beach, and a wild flower garden up some steps at the back of the house with mown walkways where you can sit in the sun or in the shade under the trees.
Speaking to Naomi before their wedding she had said to me she wanted just candid photos of the day, nothing posed at all, which was a requirement I was more than happy to fulfil. The wedding was a very relaxed and intimate affair and the venue lent itself perfectly to this.
The day started with Martin arriving looking a little hot under the collar, caused not by nerves but by the extreme heat, not the sort of temperatures we’re used to! In contrast Naomi arrived in a gorgeous dress which looked like it was designed for a day of sweltering temperatures such as this. Mingling with their family and guests before the ceremony set the tone of the day, it was for everyone to relax and enjoy themselves.
The ceremony took place with the guests together with the bride and groom on the veranda, followed by drinks and canapés and the opportunity for anybody who wanted to, to swim or paddle in the sea. It was such a wonderful way to celebrate and exactly what Martina and Naomi wished for, if only we could guarantee the British weather would always be this beautiful!
