Why I love Photographing Small Weddings
If you can’t decide if you want a small, intimate wedding or larger, more lavish affair, here are some of the reasons why I love photographing small weddings that might help you make up your minds.
There’s no getting away from it, weddings are expensive and obviously one of the easiest ways to reduce the cost is to have a smaller wedding. All aspects become more affordable, including photography. The term ‘Micro Wedding’ is new to me but I’m sure it’s been around for a while. If you choose to have a guest list of around 20 people or less, that probably qualifies as one.
When I photograph a small wedding I’m often only there for between 2 to 4 hours. I love that I’m able to concentrate on photographing the people who are the most important to you. It also allows you as the couple, to spend quality time with everyone at your wedding.
Wedding days can sometimes be long days and that can be tiring. If you don’t want an all night party anymore, having a smaller ceremony and just the meal afterwards is a perfect solution. There’s also no reason why you can’t throw a party at a later date for all the family and friends anyway.
From a personal point of view, another reason why I love photographing small weddings is that I always have something to do. I’m there for the main event and once people sit down to eat my day is usually done. The worst part of a wedding day for me is once everyone sits down to eat, the time drags as there’s nothing for me to do. Photographing people eating doesn’t make for great photos!
I suppose the most important thing is you have a great time and some beautiful photos as a reminder.
