In the words of Forest Gump, the English summer is a bit “like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re gonna get”. This summer was another mixed bag and for Emily and Tom’s wedding the heavens opened 30 mins before the ceremony and never let up!
Apparently though if it rains on your wedding day it’s good luck which means I’ve photographed a few lucky couples this summer! It didn’t seem to worry Emily and Tom and to be honest I don’t think I’ve ever had a couple who have let the weather spoil their special day.
I first met Tom on his wedding day at the pub over the road from the church. The button holes were being fixed and once again I was asked how to do it, I never really know exactly! A quick walk to the church trying to keep dry and then I was back out for the brides arrival.
Emily looked so pretty as she stepped from the car in her tea length short wedding dress which suited her perfectly. Her dad was ready with the umbrella and with bridesmaids leading the way it was time to get married.
After the ceremony there was no way we could get any group photos outside so there was an about turn at the door and back inside for these to take place. Personally I don’t mind the rain, I’m prepared for it, but obviously it’s a nicer experience for all when it’s sunny and warm!
I think the ones who definitely did enjoy the rain were the little kids running about it back at the reception venue, soaked but laughing their little heads off! I take my hat off to Emily and Tom though who also ventured out to have some couple photos taken when it was literally pouring!
One thing when you have a wedding where it just doesn’t stop raining, nobody ever forgets it!
