James and Rebecca’s Smarden church wedding in Kent was just beautiful.
My fist stop waste The Darling Buds Farm in Bethersden. The usual flurry of activity was underway with hair and make up applying finishing touches. Credit goes to ‘Jess’ who did the hair which Rebecca later informed me stayed in place all day! While the make up by Elizabeth Joseph Love looked amazing, again right to the end of the day! It certainly pays to pay professionals as it always shows in the photos.
The Sophia Tolly dress by Isabella Grace in Tunbridge Wells was hung carefully in the bedroom. Seems once it’s on its an open invitation for a little niece to walk all over!
Arriving at the church, it was one of those English summer days that couldn’t make up it’s mind if it wanted to rain or shine. Umbrellas were in abundance. James looked relaxed and happy despite the drizzle and his ushers did a great job keeping the bridesmaids and bride dry.
With 593 churches in Kent it’s always necessary to see what the vicar allows in terms of photography. On this occasion I was restricted to the back and front corners but managed to capture some great shots. It’s never a good idea to antagonise the vicar so I am always very discreet during the service anyway.
After a few family photos it was back to the reception venue. Rebecca and James had worked really hard to create the perfect setting for the marquee at their home and it showed. Just at the right time the sun appeared so guests could enjoy drinks and canapés outside and appreciate their efforts in the garden.
Some great speeches after the wedding breakfast were followed by a great party. The music by the Simon Faulkner Band appealed to everyone and the dancing was soon in full swing.
Respecting James and Rebecca’s wishes I won’t be showing any photos of their home. However the time they took to wrap lights round the oak tree was worth it for creating that beautiful backdrop to your evening couple photos that I love!
