Canterbury Wedding Photography – Hannah & Matthew
Hannah and Matthew hired me to photograph their wedding in Preston near Canterbury after I photographed her sisters wedding in 2015. It’s always nice to be asked back by another family member as there’s that familiarity there already and it’s like meeting up with old friends again.
Like her sister and her husband Charlie, Hannah and Matthew had decided to marry in their local church a few minutes up the road. They had also chosen to hold the reception at the family farm. All they needed was the weather and it would be perfect! I’m pleased to say the sun shone and the afternoon tea could be consumed in the orchard as planned.
Travelling to the church in the trusty Land Rover and the return journey courtesy of the tractor, it was all in keeping with the country feel. Hannah and Matthew wanted their day to be as relaxed as possible and they achieved that. Not just with how they did their wedding day but by how they are. They are the sort of people that would always try and make you feel at ease, which is such a nice way to be.
The church ceremony was conducted in a friendly and relaxed manner, which it my experience makes it much more enjoyable for everyone present. Then after a few group photos outside afterwards it was a back to the farm, quite slowly as it happens behind the tractor! Drinks and canapés were served in the garden and then it was out to the beautiful orchards for the wedding breakfast.
This was very much a hands on wedding where everyone pitched in serving food and drinks and moving tables from one area to another. There was even some homemade vodka jelly getting dished out. So with everyone loose limbed and ready it was time for the Ceilidh! I haven’t been to a wedding yet where a barn dance doesn’t get everyone on their feet. Don’t have one if you have an aversion to sweat though!
Hannah & Matthew looked so happy together and although the day probably flew by, their photos will be a constant reminder of the joy and fun of that day.
