Chilham Wedding Photography
Anne & Josh’s wedding at St Mary’s Church in Chilham, Kent was the second time in two years I had photographed there and both times they were for members of the same family. The previous year it had been Jane & Stevens wedding and this time it was the turn of Jane’s sister Anne.
So on a beautiful July day I met up again at Anne’s parents house where she was getting ready amid the smiles and at times tears from their gorgeous little daughter Daisy. Mike and Marisas beautiful garden and barn were again providing the reception venue and looked perfect for the occasion once more.
Anne certainly seemed very relaxed and with her hair adorned with a garland of small white roses and a simple yet stunning dress, she looked every bit the beautiful English bride. As well as their daughter Daisy there is another very important member of their family who was involved in the wedding day and that’s Josh’s dog, ‘Friday’, named because as I was told, “everyone loves Friday”. People say, never work with children or animals, personally I love both, especially at a church wedding as they always bring something fun to the ceremony, just look where daisy decided to sit herself!
After the signing of the register and a few group photos it was back to the reception in the old Austin Healey for pimms and canapés before the main event of the hog roast. Marisa, Anne’s mum, is well known for her amazing cooking skills and although obviously not catering at this event she produced the wedding cake as she had also done the previous year and it was stunning and I’m sure delicious!
Like any wedding, as well as concentrating on documentary style photography to capture the moments going on through out the day, I also love to get some portraits of the bride and groom together. I think I’m safe in saying this wasn’t Josh’s favourite part of the day but with a little encouragement and guidance I think we got some lovely ones. Anne was simply a natural 😉
It was such pleasure being back to photograph another wedding at the farm for the Summerfield family, hopefully I’ll get another opportunity one day!
