Westenhanger Wedding Photography – Lara & Phil
Meeting Lara and Phil at my studio prior to them booking me, I could see I’d love working with them. I’m pleased to say they booked me and we met again for their pre wedding photoshoot near their home in Ashford. They’d already said they weren’t keen on being photographed, but I reassured them that is what everyone says and I’d do my very best to make them feel as comfortable about the experience as possible.
The pre wedding photoshoot was great, I got to find out a bit about them both and could see that Phil did feel a bit self conscious in front of the camera. However they both soon got in the swing of it and we had some lovely results from the session. Discussing their day with them, they both wanted the photography to focus on capturing natural moments and very few group photos.
The wedding day itself was a mix of laughter and tears, sunshine and showers. Lara’s mum was sadly no longer with them but very much still part of the day. Her photo was attached to her bouquet in a locket, and a beautiful memory bear made from one of her mums outfits, sat in the front row looking on during the ceremony. Weddings we know is all about the love of two people, but honestly it’s so much more than that. It’s about all the people you care about being together, whether that’s physically or in your thoughts.
It was an overcast but warm day which meant the ceremony could go ahead outside as planned. Westenhanger Castle is a beautiful venue and as the showers didn’t arrive until later the guests and the couple could enjoy the grounds, which was perfect.
After the speeches which led to much laughter and a few tears, Lara surprised Phil by getting up with her group and singing. Motorbikes and music play a big part in Phil and Lara’s lives. Although Phil didn’t arrive on his bike, Lara did decide to incorporate her acapella group into the day. They were really good!
If you’re wondering about the cake, if my memory serves me correctly, I think this was a wedding that was a long time coming!
