Westenhanger Castle Wedding – Paige & David
I first heard from Paige a year in advance about photographing their Westenhanger Castle wedding. It’s funny as I hadn’t photographed a wedding at this particular venue in all the years I’ve been doing this and ended up with two there in 2023.
Paige and David wanted their wedding to be a very relaxed affair and the photography to reflect this. Both of them had worked in hospitality, David as a chef and Paige as a wedding planner, so they had no doubt seen a lot of weddings. They were however, pretty laid back about things and just wanted everyone to have a good time and for it to be photographed in a relaxed and natural way.
Choosing to opt for the Full Day Package, I arrived in good time in the morning to photograph Paige and her friends getting ready and having a few giggles together. Paige was very chilled, but as the time of the ceremony drew closer, even she admitted the nerves were starting to kick in a little bit. With the final makeup touches done and wedding dress on she brought tears to the eyes of her mum and sisters when they saw her for the first time.
David had arrived pretty much ready, needing only to slip on his jacket and have the button holes attached. I always think the groom has the better deal really as they have that time before the ceremony to chat with guests. Their little son, Reece looked very cute in his little outfit and was happily playing under the watchful eye of grandparents!
The ceremony took place indoors with drinks to follow downstairs. It was such beautiful October day though, really warm and sunny, so guests made their way outside to make the most of the sunshine. Which was especially welcome for the children who had plenty of room to run about and enjoy the bubbles machine, while the adults enjoyed their own kind of bubbles.
This is a venue with plenty of areas for photos and once the group ones had been taken, Paige and David were happy to have a little time to themselves having some portraits taken in and around the grounds. They had had a pre wedding photoshoot with me back in the summer so knew what to expect, nothing daunting I can assure you! I don’t keep couples away from their guests for long and generally try to get a few portraits that show them and how they are together as well as ones that show off their chosen venue.
Time then for the wedding breakfast and a short break for me before the speeches, cake cutting and first dance. The food was again delicious and the staff are always so lovely too, which is so welcome when you’ve been working hard all day!
