The Cherry Barn Wedding Photography – Fiona & Chris
It’s been a long 2 years but in between the postponed and cancelled weddings there were some fabulous days to remind me of why I do this job. One of those was Fiona and Chris’s wedding at The Cherry Barn in Peasmarsh. This was my first time at this relatively new wedding venue but what a beautiful place. Set on a working farm among apple orchards and a stunning view across the countryside, this restored barn looks fantastic.
As guests arrived, jars of pimms were served on the terrace which was very much in keeping with the tennis theme. As two keen players, Fiona being the better one I learned during the speeches, they had decorated the barn to reflect their love for the game. Tennis rackets adorned the walls and balls everywhere!, as for the deserts, incorporating plenty of strawberries, and how they were presented, that was just game set and match!
Fiona and Chris were blessed with the most glorious September weather which meant their ceremony could take place in the gazebo out on the lawn area. Friends and family had traveled from all over to be with them to celebrate their special day and they were making the most of it. I think after being so deprived of being able to all be together, every event last year seemed extra special! Drinks flowed and lawn games were played (not tennis), and I simply moved around and photographed the proceedings to my heart’s content.
As the sun lowered I took Fiona and Chris for their second portrait session. I often do two short sessions if the couple are willing, as after the speeches it’s a nice time for them to have a moment together and the light is often better for photography.
Once back in the barn, it was time for dancing! A live band was set up which always creates a great atmosphere and the dance floor got filled! It wasn’t long before some ‘limbo dancing’ began and wow, Chris and his sister Niamh were good! The bar got lower and lower and it got quite competitive! Seems though the girls were just that little bit better, not just at tennis but at limbo too on this occasion.
