Winter wedding photography at Chilston Park Hotel
My final wedding of 2017 was that of Jo and Graham’s which took place on the 27th December at a venue I hadn’t actually been to before, the Chilston Park Hotel.
Jo and Graham are perhaps not your ‘typical’ bride and groom as they are a more mature couple, but age, as they say, is only a number and I’m a great believer in doing what feels right in all aspects of life, at any age you want to!
I love a winter wedding and those that fall around Christmas are particularly fun with the ‘holiday feel’ still very much present. With it being my first experience of photographing a wedding at Chilston Park Hotel, I got there a little early to take a look around. The grand staircase is quite a feature and the Orangery where Jo and Graham were having their wedding ceremony was perfect for this time of year when the days can be pretty bleak and dark.
This wedding was anything but bleak though, and the joining of two families that included children and grandchildren who had travelled across the globe to celebrate with Jo and Graham was very special to them.
Jo looked lovely and while she was escorted down the aisle by her very proud looking son I’m sure I saw a tear in Grahams eye, soon replaced by a beaming smile when he saw her. The bridesmaid and flower girls looked adorable with their little baskets of flowers and their readings during the ceremony were recited beautifully.
The wedding itself was very much a family affair which was nice as it gave everyone the chance to catch up properly before the arrival of friends for the evening reception. With everyone present Jo and Graham cut the cake and got the party started with their first dance. The live band played some great music and there were all ages on the dance floor, from 6 to 60+ and thats just another reason why I love wedding photography!
