‘Day in the Life Photography’ for business has been a branch of my photography that I have introduced over the past year. Recognising the importance of creative and interesting images to promote a business, I knew there was scope for me to provide a sought after service. When you run your own business, it’s often difficult to find time to create and promote what you do, not to mention having the skill to do it. I believe it’s so important to show your prospective clients who you are and what you and your business is about, not something you can easily do by yourself with your iphone.
I met Lin who owns and runs Woodchurch Cottage Flowers through a business associate I was working with at the time. ( NB: At the time of publishing this blog post the photos on Lins website are not yet from our photoshoots together.) After an initial consultation to discuss what I could do for her in terms of photography and find out what she wanted to achieve we organised the day to do the first photoshoot. Because of the nature of Lin’s work, she decided 4 seperate days throughout the year would best showcase what she does. Due to the nature of her business, photographing what she does during the different seasons built a great portfolio of images for her to use.
Lins business involves growing all her own flowers, arranging bouquets for people and running workshops. What she wanted from me was to create images to portray how her work really does come from the heart. The thought and love she puts into every aspect of producing these flowers and delivering her bouquets is very important to her and needed to be conveyed in the photos. I’m pleased to say this is what she had to say after I’d delivered all her photos to her.
“I am bowled over by the quality of the photographs Helen took for me of my flower farm. Such beautiful imaginative shots, so evocative and it makes you feel like you are really capturing the essence of my flowers, the arrangements I make and the workshops I hold”.
