Christening Photography Kent – Ruperts Christening
Together with photographing weddings, another event I do are Christenings. These are lovely celebrations to photograph, there are certainly less time pressures than a wedding!
My approach to photographing the christening however is similar to a wedding. I will photograph some of the guests arriving and then the service, followed by any requested group photos. Often I then go back to the venue where everyone is gathering to enjoy some food and drinks to get some candid photos of people enjoying themselves.
This Christening took place at St Stephens Church in Lympne, Kent, right next door to Lympne Castle where I have photographed a number of weddings. It’s a beautiful area of Kent and even better when the sun is shining as it was on this particular day.
Little Rupert was as good as gold during the whole thing, not even a peep when he was baptised with the water. It’s always fun to photograph babies & toddlers as they invariably want to either put something they shouldn’t in their mouths or touch it. Rupert was no exception as he tried tasting hair and the order of service and desperately reached to get hold of the lit commemorative candle!
After a handful of group photos outside the church we headed back up the road to the family home to take some more in the garden. After which I simply took photos of everyone enjoying themselves to give a full record of the day.
