Swallows Oast Wedding Photography – Sarah & James
This wedding took place on possibly the hottest day last year, it was absolutely boiling! Sweat was pouring down peoples faces and Sarah was nearly ready to pass out during the reception! We really shouldn’t complain though should we.
A close friend of mine is very good friends with James’s mum and it was through this introduction that I was suggested as their possible photographer. Sarah is originally from Liverpool but she moved south to be with James and now live just up the road from me in Bethersden village. They came to the studio to meet and despite them being quite a bit younger, (I’m around his mums age), we got on well and they booked me, yay!
We spent a good hour one summer evening during their pre wedding photoshoot chatting and enjoying the walk with their gorgeous staffy, Max. I could see then how right they were for each other, both so lovely natured and laughing all the time together. With this particular wedding I was photographing the whole day. The usual chaotic room mess but some fancy matching pj’s greeted me in the lady’s dressing room while the guys finished getting ready in a small backroom office. With bride and groom both being on site I was able to switch between them, which is always good as they get to see what the other was up to before the ceremony when the photos are delivered.
Sarah’s family and friends made the journey down from Liverpool to the sweltering heat of East Sussex and like everyone else were looking for shade until the sun went down! The ceremony thankfully took place inside, and once outside there was the shade of the woodland to head for, (although I’m not sure how many realised this!) It’s a beautiful venue with a field the other side of the short woodland walk which is where we headed for some portraits of Sarah and James. A nice opportunity for them to have a few moments together on a day when there are so many people to talk to.
The reception was great as sarah had booked the singing waiters as a surprise for James. They are so entertaining, I’d seen them before at Ann and Alan’s wedding at The Hythe Imperial and they were brilliant. They get the whole room singing or dancing to some well known songs which makes for some great photos as well.
The whole day was such a happy occasion, a good mix of family and friends, plenty of laughter and love, and of course quite a few bevvies!
