How lucky am I to get paid to fly to Spain and photograph a wedding at Castell d’Emporda. Not only was it a stunning venue but I also couldn’t have asked for two more friendly, easy going and hospitable people than Matt & Rebecca.
These two love their animals, which in my eyes makes them even nicer human beings. They incorporated their dogs and cats into the wedding by naming the aisles and tables after them and Rebecca had some very special cufflinks made for Matt in remembrance of his dog Logan which certainly brought a tear to his eyes.
There was lots planned for the day and I knew how excited Rebecca was prior to it by the emails I’d had. I’d seen them both back in the summer for their pre wedding photoshoot and knew how happy they’d been with their photos then. I just really wanted to make sure I delivered here, doing them and their chosen venue justice.
The bridal suite had a fabulous view over to the olive garden where their ceremony was to be held and it was the seen of much excitement by the flower girls as well as the bride! Outside guests had started to mingle and enjoy a drink and a chat beforehand and vendors were doing the last little finishing touches.
At just before 3.30 guests were asked to take their seats and escorted by her dad, Rebecca made the walk up the aisle. She looked stunning and Matts smiles said it all. Set against a bright blue sky and in among the olive groves, they were married. The ceremony was both funny and sentimental, what a fabulous start to their life together.
Wanting to also remember those people who were no longer with them they lit candles in the chapel. Weddings are sometimes as much about the people who aren’t there as those that are.
It was now time to enjoy the vista and watch the sun slowly set behind the distant hills. Time to socialise, eat and enjoy some wine before the party! The speeches were made, the cake was cut and Rebecca threw her bouquet on the roof! accidentally of course.
This area of Spain is special to Matt and Rebecca and that is why they chose to have their wedding here, now it has become even more magical. Happy memories forever both of you!
