I don’t do a huge amount of wedding photography in Broadstairs, so it was nice to take a trip out towards the Kent coast for Claire and Stefans big day. My first port of call was with Stefan and his best man at the reception venue which was the home of the best mans parents. The garden, decorated by family and friends looked beautiful, they really had gone the extra mile with attention to detail!
Guys get ready much much quicker than the ladies so it wasn’t long before I was making my way to The Botany Bay Hotel to meet up with Claire and her friends. They were thoroughly enjoying themselves preparing and as soon as I met them I knew the day was going to be fun.
The wedding ceremony took place at Eythorne Baptist Church. Unfortunately after Claire was walked down the aisle I was only allowed to photograph from the back of the balcony, but Claire and Stefan were aware of the restrictions and didn’t seem to mind too much. To be honest I love photographing the period immediately after the ceremony even more as there is always so much emotion.
Back at the reception the pool had been filled with balloons and the heating turned off to deter swimming later in the evening; much to my disappointment as I think they would have made some great photos! The property inside and out had a real South African influence as the owners were originally from there. More than a few times Afrikaans was spoken which was great to listen to even if I had no clue what was being said!
It was mentioned by the Minister during the service that Claire and Stefan hadn’t been extravagant with their wedding costs, so it was especially nice that they had chosen to invest in their wedding photography. Although I’m in no way the most expensive wedding photographer in Kent, I’m also not cheap so it’s great when a couple really value what you do!
I loved photographing this wedding surrounded by such friendly and welcoming people. Claire and Stefan you were just great to be around and I wish you many happy and healthy years together.
