What a beautiful day we had for Juliet and Darrens pre wedding photoshoot down in Hythe, Kent, sunshine and warmth!. Meeting at The Hythe Imperial was decided as this is where Juliet and Darren are getting married at the end of May and from there we could go down on to the beach and also to the canal near the town.
I love pre wedding shoots, there’s no time pressure as there is on a wedding so you can take photos and chat and chat and take photos without worrying that it’s nearly time for the wedding breakfast! Both busy people with their jobs, Juliet and Darren had taken the day off and were totally relaxed and happy to take as long as necessary for their photo session as they didn’t have any photos of them together so felt this was a great opportunity.
So we ventured down onto the pebble beach and with The Hythe Imperial on one side and the English channel on the other we started to take some photos. Often I find that initially couples are a little self conscious or simply unsure of what’s expected of them which is understandable. So the first 5- 10 minutes is more about getting them to realise they don’t have to do anything daft and cheesy and with a just a little instruction we can get some natural photos of the two of them looking great. In fact quite often couples will interact without any prompting and as long as I have put them in some nice light, voila we have the shot!
Juliet and Darren were these kind of people, really happy and relaxed in each others company and in front of the camera. My assistant Emma helped out with the reflector which was great and she’ll also be with me at the wedding which is a first for me as I have always worked alone, so I’m looking forward to this one even more as Emma will be such help.
I love The Hythe Imperial as a venue, so much so I got married there myself in January 2016 and it was brilliant. If you’d like to see an example of a wedding at The Hythe Imperial I’ve photographed please take a look at Julie & Chris’s blog post.
I know Darren and Juliet are going to love it and I can’t wait to document their day for them. What was really lovely was to receive an email from them after they had seen their pre wedding photos saying the following:-
” Thank you so much, the photos are lovely! I cannot tell you how excited I am. I know you probably hear this a lot, but I have to say it anyway – Darren and I are so happy we found you, and that you are the one photographing our day! Thank you.”
