So I know it’s April and this roundup of 2016 Personal Favourite Images is pretty late in the day but my blog posts are always later than I plan them to be so…
2016 was a magical year for me, not simply because I was lucky enough to witness and document so many beautiful weddings but also because it was the year that I married Shelley, my partner of 12 years, and I really got to experience the incredible emotions that your wedding day throws at you! I know it’s a cliche, but hand on heart it was the best day of my life, to celebrate the love you have for someone with all the people that mean the most to you is something I’ll treasure forever.
Does this make me a better wedding photographer? Personally for me I think it has made a difference. I think I recognise more clearly those moments that are special and I look more carefully for them. Weddings for me have never just been just a series of elements, each wedding is unique and it is these snippets of time, often fleeting, that can conjure up the best photographs and reminders of an amazing day.
This was also the year that I won another two placings in the quarterly Wedding Photojournalist Association competitions which I’m really proud of as it’s hotly contested by some of the best wedding photographers around the world. 2017 will see me entering these competitions again and hopefully achieve some results!
I’ve had so many memorable moments from peoples weddings I’ve photographed this year and had some wonderful feedback, all I can say was it was my absolute pleasure!
