This was my first time photographing a Hever Castle wedding and what a treat, quite simply some of the most stunning grounds I have visited, particularly the Italian Gardens with the magnificent lake set at the back. It looked even more magnificent when the thunderous grey clouds appeared in the afternoon.
Everyone knows it takes the bride a good deal longer to get ready than the groom and since Gail didn’t want any of the bridal prep shots taken I spent some time with John and his brother while they passed the time playing croquet , then they got ready in about 15 minutes.
Guests arrived and button holes were passed around to be fixed in place, as normal nobody quite knowing how and which side to fix them and me documenting the proceedings. The ceremony took place in the Astor Wing and then following this drinks were served on the lawn, people chatted and relaxed and although the sky looked like we were in for a thunder storm it skirted round us thankfully.
The grounds and gardens are really pretty at Hever Castle and as a photographer it is a case of just picking a few spots where there is good light and not trying to cover everything when doing the couple photos, which is what we did.
On this occasion I finished once the wedding breakfast commenced but I really hope it’s not too long before I visit this venue again.
