Andrea and Matthew’s Boughton Monchelsea wedding in September was the first time I had visited the venue and what a beautiful house in an equally beautiful setting. The house itself is reached via a long sweeping driveway and as soon as you arrive the views across the countryside are simply stunning.
Guest were soon arriving and enjoying the warm sun and scenery before taking their seats for the ceremony inside. While Matthew chatted with friends and family, Andrea was getting ready upstairs with the help of her bridesmaids and close friend in another one of the houses fabulous rooms.
The bridesmaids looked a picture, all of them in sweet cotton dresses and carrying pretty bouquets of summer flowers, the perfect trio for a bride who looked beautiful in her wedding dress.
Not having the venue for a huge length of time meant after the ceremony, while everyone enjoyed drinks on the terrace, we took the group photos requested and then moved round into the walled garden at the rear of the house for a few couple portraits. It’s a shame we didn’t have longer as the gardens were gorgeous, so much colour, but sometimes that’s just the way it goes at weddings.
With a coach laid on for the guests and the bride and groom being whisked away in a beautiful classic car owned and driven by the The Dering Arms Pub landlord, everyone was soon on their way to the reception at the afore mentioned pub.
Reception at The Dering, Pluckley
The Dering is a great little pub, literally 3mins from where I live and apparently haunted! Pluckily is the most haunted village in the country so I’m told. Not a ghost to be seen on this particular afternoon, it all looked so welcoming with the hops adorning the ceilings and flowers on the tables, just perfect for an English wedding.
The weather allowed for everyone to mingle outside and before the food was served speeches took place in the garden. The speeches are always an emotional part of the day, they make people laugh and cry and sometimes both. This is because of not just what is said but because they are delivered and received by those who mean the most to us and this wedding was no exception.
Once some great ale and delicious food had been served and consumed it was on to the party and this soon got into full swing and I’m sure lasted well into the night.
